Show Synopsis:

Welcome to Skid Row, a dreary and down-on-its-luck neighborhood where dreams go to die. Amidst the urban decay, Seymour Krelborn, a meek and unassuming employee at Mushnik's Skid Row Florist Shop, stumbles upon a strange and exotic plant during a rare solar eclipse. He names it Audrey II, after his beautiful but insecure coworker, Audrey, on whom he harbors a secret crush. Little does Seymour know, this unusual plant will change his life forever, but not in the way he expects.

As Audrey II begins to grow at an alarming rate, so does Seymour's popularity. The plant attracts media attention and customers to the struggling flower shop, transforming Seymour from a nobody into a local celebrity. Mr. Mushnik, the shop's curmudgeonly owner, is thrilled with the newfound business, and Audrey starts to notice Seymour in a new light, finally daring to dream of a life beyond Skid Row and away from her abusive boyfriend, Orin Scrivello, a sadistic dentist.

However, the secret to Audrey II's rapid growth is a dark and disturbing one: it requires human blood to survive. As the plant's appetite grows, Seymour finds himself entangled in a web of lies and increasingly desperate acts to keep Audrey II fed and his newfound fame intact. The three "doo-wop" girls, Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon, act as a Greek chorus, narrating the story and commenting on the unfolding events with their infectious energy and streetwise savvy.

As Audrey II's true nature is revealed, the stakes get higher and the situation spirals out of control. Seymour is forced to confront the moral consequences of his actions and make a difficult choice between his love for Audrey, his desire for fame and fortune, and the ever-growing demands of the monstrous plant he has nurtured. Will he manage to escape the clutches of Audrey II, or will he become just another victim in its insatiable hunger? Little Shop of Horrors is a darkly comedic rock 'n' roll musical that explores themes of ambition, love, morality, and the price of fame, all wrapped up in a delightfully campy and macabre package.

  • No full-face makeup, please.

Available Roles: ages below indicate character age and not actual age.

Seymour Krelborn: (Male, 20s-30s) A sweet, but socially awkward and insecure young man. He yearns for love and recognition, and his discovery of Audrey II offers him a chance at both. He's easily influenced and struggles with the moral implications of his actions. Think nebbish, but with a hidden vulnerability. * Vocal Range: A2-G4 *

Audrey: (Female, 20s-30s) A kind, but insecure and self-deprecating woman who works at Mushnik's Skid Row Florist Shop. She dreams of a better life "somewhere that's green" and is trapped in an abusive relationship with Orin. She possesses a gentle nature and a surprising inner strength. Think Marilyn Monroe meets a bit of Lucille Ball. * Vocal Range: G#3-D5 *

Mr. Mushnik: (Male, 50s-60s) The gruff, penny-pinching, and ultimately greedy owner of the failing flower shop. He's a fast talker, a bit of a blowhard, and sees Seymour and Audrey as a means to an end. He's looking for a way out of Skid Row and is willing to exploit anything to get it. Think a less charming version of a used car salesman. * Vocal Range: G2-F4 *

Orin Scrivello: (Male, 30s-40s) A sadistic, leather-clad dentist with a penchant for pain and a love of motorcycles. He's Audrey's abusive boyfriend and a complete egomaniac. He's the epitome of toxic masculinity, but in a darkly comedic way. Think Elvis Presley meets a biker gang leader. * Vocal Range: G2-G4 *

Audrey II (Voice): (Any gender, 20s-50s) A manipulative, charismatic, and ultimately evil talking plant from outer space. Audrey II has a booming voice and a wicked sense of humor. Think a cross between Barry White and a Shakespearean villain. * Vocal Range: G2-G4 *

Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon:(Female, 20s-30s) A trio of street urchins who act as a Greek chorus, commenting on the action and providing exposition. They are sassy, energetic, and full of life. They are the heart and soul of Skid Row. Think the Supremes with a touch of street smarts. * Vocal Range: Ab3-F5 *
